In the most competitive conference in the NRL for 2015, the Melbourne Storm have once again shown their champion qualities.
The Melbourne Storm have dominated the NRL South for the better part of the last decade, but their triumph in 2015 did not come easily. They had to grind their way to a fifth consecutive conference title that was not decided until the final day of the season.
All four teams in the NRL South sat at the top of the conference table at some point in the season, but as the form or their rivals rose and fell, the Storm continued chipping away at their conference title defence. They recovered from a mid-season slump to slowly climb the ladder and continue their winning run.
Best win: the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks held the NRL South conference lead heading into the home stretch of the season, but they were stopped in their tracks against the Storm in round 23. Melbourne reclaimed the conference lead with a 30-2 victory. While they didn’t hold on at the top for long, the undefeated record against their conference rivals assisted them in leapfrogging the Sharks in the final round.
