The Sydney Roosters fly to their third NRL East conference title in a row.
The NRL East has been one of the strongest conferences for the majority of the last last decade, and the Sydney Roosters have proven once again they are top of the pile. In 2013 and 2014, the Roosters did not claim the NRL East conference title until the very final round; in 2015, they won by a comfortable 10 points and with several rounds in hand.
After a somewhat unconvincing start to the season, the Roosters worked their way up the NRL East conference standings, hitting their peak after the State of Origin period. They finished the regular season with a 12-match winning streak – capped off by back-to-back victories over their NRL East conference rivals, the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles and South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Best Win: the round 24 match-up between the Roosters and the Broncos proved to be a battle for the minor premiership. In a closely contested tussle, the Roosters prevailed 14-12 to set themselves up to retain the J.J. Giltinan Shield for another year.
Best streak: 12
Conference Record: 4-1
